Here is Ian performing his solo from the musical " I Do Voices". In this scene, the Utility Players are trying to decide what they can do to fill a 2 hour weekly variety show. Ian showcases some of his talent with breaking out a vast array of voices and impersonations. He demonstrates to the players as well as the audience just exactly what he means when he says "he does voices". Enjoy!

The Utility Players, spent the later months of 2009 creating, writing, and rehearsing their own musical. UTILITY PLAYERS - THE MUSICAL [we are still working out a final name] tells the somewhat mythological story of the formation of the Utility Players. One clandestine night, six strangers meet at an open mic and decide to form a comedy troupe based in improv. Meanwhile, a crude and untalented stand-up comic - with the help of an evil witch - attempts to steal the laughter from the world and the Utility Players. This song, called Josh's Lament, is from one our rehearsal and occurs shortly after our intrepid villain steals Josh's laughter.

Check out this new clip from practice the other night. Josh and Ian are playing an improv game called Sound Effects where Ian is providing the sound effects for a scene that Josh is trying to develop. The suggestion from the audience was that Josh is Wile E. Coyote out on a date with the Roadrunner. In this clip, Josh and Ian parody Death Cab for Cutie's "I'll Follow You into th Park" with their own version song called "I'll Carry You into the Park". In this song Josh and Ian sing about Josh's intrepid search to find the perfect bong.

A new segment that the Utility Players have introduced into the second season is the "Nooz Sho". This is the Utility Players own spin off of weekend update and is done in the comic stylings of "The Onion". Check out this video from the past episode of the Comedy Cabaret -
